ACDelco Battery Warranty Information
In order to simplify the ACDelco battery warranty processes, ACDelco is transitioning to Free Replacement only on Professional Batteries. It is important to note that the information regarding the battery warranty that is displayed on the battery label is the standing warranty for that particular battery.
ACDelco warrants to the original retail purchaser the new replacement Professional Gold battery for 42 months, Professional Silver battery for 30 months, Professional Red battery for 18 months and Advantage battery for 18 months from the date of purchase when used in private car and light-duty truck applications. Should the battery fail to hold a charge due to a defect in material or workmanship in the first 42 months (Professional Gold), 30 months (Professional Silver) or 28 months (Professional Red and Advantage), the battery will be replaced at no cost (labour for removal or installation not included) with a new ACDelco battery of comparable performance.
If you suspect that your battery is not functioning properly:
Try taking your vehicle to an authorized ACDelco Independent Service Centre. The experts there can identify the specific cause of the problem. You can also call 1-80026DELCO for your nearest ACDelco battery retailer or ACDelco distributor.
Look on your battery's label to see the warranty details for your specific battery.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a claim under the warranty on my battery?
In the event you wish to make a claim under this warranty, you must return your dated bill of sale receipt and your battery, with its warranty insert intact, to your ACDelco retailer. If your receipt is not available, the beginning date for this warranty will be based on the date code as it appears on the battery label.
What is the warranty on the battery that came with my vehicle? It says that it has a six-year warranty.
The battery that comes with a GM vehicle is covered by the limited warranty of three years or
60,000 km (48 months/4 years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first, for Cadillac, Buick and HUMMER) and should be taken back to the GM dealership. The six-year warranty is for the consumer who purchased the battery in the aftermarket; the battery should be returned to the place of purchase with the receipt.
Where can I find a warranty-covered replacement battery?
You can find a local ACDelco battery retailer through the ACDelco Parts Retailer or Service Centre online, or call 1-800-263-3526 and one of our friendly representatives will help you locate a warranty centre in your area.
How do I read the warranty date code on my battery?
The warranty date code is located on the top label of the battery. The first character is either a P or S. The next two digits determine the month, the third digit is year and the fourth digit indicates the manufacturing plant. For example, P 094N means the battery was made in September 2004 in the New Brunswick factory.

ACDelco, General Motors Corporation, warrants to the original retail purchaser a new replacement Professional battery for 60, 72, and 84 months (depending on series) from the date of purchase when used in private passenger car and light-truck applications.
